PK25 sits at kilometer 25 on the lagoon road south of Dakhla town, and it has earned its reputation as the go-to teaching spot on the entire peninsula. This is where many of Dakhla's kite schools set up camp, and for good reason. The wide, sandy beach stretches far enough that dozens of kites can launch simultaneously without crowding. Step into the water and you find a sandy bottom underfoot with no rocks, no urchins, and no surprises. The lagoon here is shallow for hundreds of meters, and the water stays remarkably flat even when the wind picks up to 25 knots. For first-timers learning body drag or intermediate riders working on their waterstart, PK25 delivers the most forgiving conditions in the region.
Conditions & Best Time
PK25 benefits from Dakhla's trademark side-shore thermal wind that blows consistently between 15 and 25 knots. The wind fills in reliably from late morning and holds until sunset, giving you long sessions without frustrating lulls. Because the spot faces the lagoon rather than the open ocean, the water remains flat to slightly choppy — never waves. The sandy bottom means you can stand up in waist-deep water well offshore, which is a huge confidence booster for beginners.
Water temperature ranges from 19 to 23 degrees Celsius depending on the season, warm enough for a shorty wetsuit most of the year and boardshorts in summer. The tide has minimal impact here; PK25 works at any tide state. While the spot operates year-round, peak season runs from April through October when the trade winds are at their strongest and most consistent. Winter months still deliver rideable days, though the wind is slightly less reliable.

Who Should Ride Here?
PK25 is genuinely suited to all levels, but it truly shines for beginners and lower intermediates. If you have never flown a kite before, this is where you want to start. The wide beach gives you plenty of space for your first kite setup and ground handling exercises. The shallow, sandy lagoon eliminates the fear factor — you can always put your feet down. Intermediate riders will appreciate the flat water for practicing transitions, jumps, and board recovery. Even advanced freestylers use PK25 for flat-water trick sessions when they want buttery smooth conditions for unhooked tricks or kite loops.
Families with children learning to kite will find PK25 particularly welcoming. The gentle conditions mean kids can progress quickly without intimidation, and the sandy beach is perfect for those who want to relax while others ride.
How to Get There
PK25 is located 25 kilometers south of Dakhla town along the main lagoon road (the route toward the tip of the peninsula). The road is paved and well-maintained, making it accessible by any vehicle — no 4x4 required. Most hotels and riads in Dakhla can arrange transport, and many kite schools offer shuttle services to PK25 as part of their packages. The drive takes roughly 25 minutes from town center. Look for the cluster of kite school banners and vans along the roadside — you will not miss it.
Our Coaching at PK25
Amine uses PK25 as the primary base for structured beginner programs at ProKite Coaching. The wide beach allows for thorough land briefings and safe kite setup practice before hitting the water. Once you are on the lagoon, the predictable side-shore wind and flat water create ideal conditions for progressive learning — from kite control and body drag all the way through to your first rides and basic jumps.
Every session at PK25 is filmed for video analysis. Amine walks you through your footage after each session, highlighting exactly what to improve. The consistency of conditions here means you are not battling the elements — you are purely focused on technique. For riders staying multiple days, PK25 sessions can be combined with trips to other spots like La Lagune or Dragon Island to add variety to your progression.
